Phail Ddukkpokki

There! So this afternoon, I was really excited to make ddukpokki orKorean spicy rice cakes which I have been craving since the last time I went out with Micah and May. Now, I’ve managed to whip myself one and well….phailed horribly. Not really, because my yaya came to rescue when she realized I placed too much of the hot pepper sauce.

So why bother making? Because it’s my favorite Korean snack of all time!!!

Moving on, so I went to the nearby Korean grocery in our village to buy the ingredients I needed. You basically and majorly need these two….

The “evil” Hot Pepper Paste…the smallest tub is around Php165.00

Yummy “dduk” or tube rice cake…this pack is Php150.00

So there, I missed out on a few ingredients like green onions, anchovies (couldn’t find any) and fish cakes (sold out..T_T) so I just decided to improvise. And the result…

I mixed in pork and tiny bits of green onions…it looks so orange-y coz I made a mistake of putting 6 tablespoons of hot pepper paste not knowing and underestimating the HOT part. I ended up crying while eating this so my yaya re-boiled it to lessen the spiciness of the sauce.

Then it turned out better, we both enjoyed with especially with the Chilsung Cider…XD

So this made me thinking, would have it been better that I bought ddukpokki at some Korean resto nearbyor eat the one I made that has love poured in it? Haha! I don’t know really but I had fun making it. Expect me to make more.

October Babies are AWESOME!

I’ve been a bit too busy with schoolwork but thank god that I actually am doing well with balancing my schoolwork, fangirling and things I really want to do. This weekend is a bit lighter for me but that’s because I know I won’t have to do any revisions for Video Production class.

So, yesterday I was out with my college friends since we had three birthday celebrants, not just me for this month. Jet, Gio, Poch oh and Dianne too so that makes 4 October babies! I treated them out for Noraebang, 2 Saturdays before and they really enjoyed it so we decided to get a bigger room for the triple birthday celebration. As usual, everyone was crazy. XD

The boys got themselves drunk while singing their hearts out, while we girls were just hanging around, looking at the oppa-deuls. Yes, apparently, there are only 4 boys girls.

After the Noraebang which lasted for 3 hours, we had dinner at DonaDona Korean BBQ Restaurant and had SAMGYUPSAL and GALBIJIM and BIBIMBAP. Everyone was amazed with the Korean feast we had and we were stuffing ourselves with anything that our chopsticks reached. It was so good that I’m still craving for it.

After the dinner, some of us had to go so we just had dessert at Dairy Queen in Glorietta. Super fun but very tiring. My knees tend to hurt a lot when I’ve been walking around for a long time….WOO GETTING OLD ALREADY!

Oh and we took pretty pictures at the new Jewella Purikura Booth in Timezone. I seriously want to go back there to get solo shots.

Tomorrow, I will make dukpokki (spicy rice cakes)…alone…FOR THE FIRST TIME. I’ve done it before but I was just basically cutting up stuff and my friend was the only who really cooked it so I’ll try making some and also get my nails done since they’re effin’ horrid already.
